THESE 9 TIPS WILL SAVE YOU MONEY SHOPPING
It usually happens like this:
I see a must-have pair of shoes that are perfect for fall and I go crazy inside!
-“I want it”
Then there’s a bag I’ve been dreaming of for months..
“I want it”
The moment I finally make it to the checkout, I see the cashier with fab ass earrings -the green eyed monster says: “I want it”!
I don’t know about you, but I’ll often find myself using this guilty phrase when I have a craving to shop: “ I feel so bad, but I want this”. My lovely friend Moon baby can attest to that sigh
Despite my ever growing need for more, I’ve learned a few things when it comes to saving money and how to build an ideal closet without making your wallet cry.
1. Create that budget
No, you can’t skip this MAJOR first step. Without a budget you will fall back into old habits, faster than you can say GUCCI…
Create a monthly budget or set a budget before you head out shopping.
2. Set a time limit
We all love to browse, window shop, wander and get lost in a lovely store ; especially when the aesthetic is on point.
However, it’s a deadly move. You will grab everything shiny and slightly interesting, just because..
Give yourself time limits.
3. Shop at the end of season
I know what you’re probably thinking: “I don’t need a tank top in September or those cute espadrilles sandals”.
Just wait. The best time to shop is in advance so you can find items 50-90% off the regular price. Get it now for 10$, store it and move on.
4. Go thrifting
Thrift stores hold the real treasures to fashion!
One of a kind pieces, vintage finds, never-seen before patterns and more! MUCH MUCH MORE…
I had a friend, who once found the most stunning vintage velvet Tommy Hilfiger blouse for 5$.
5. Don’t buy for one-day event
Your wedding might be the only exception, for buying an expensive dress you’ll only wear once.
RENT an outfit for a one-day event.
Renttherunway, Fashion Fresh Library and FitzRoy Rentals offer this service.
8. Sales Only
A guarantee way to save money; is to only shop the sales rack.
I did this before my 4 month trip to Italy and saved so much!
8. Buy outside of your section
I LOVE to shop in the men’s & kids sections of most clothing stores.
If you can’t find a sale, deal, promotional code or low price item - look elsewhere.
- Men sections are sometimes cheaper, but they always have a sales rack and unique finds.
-The children’s section is guaranteed to have a SUPER CUTE item.
9. Bring a friend
Bring your best friend or someone sensible to be your back-bone.
It’s nice to have someone you trust tell you when you need to drop the shoes and walk away!
Do not bring a shopaholic or a friend who likes to see you spend.
I guarantee you’ll save money with these tips!
No one loves to save money on clothes more than me.
So, what do you think? Will you try these out?
If you know someone who needs to read this, don’t resist to share it!
