THESE 9 TIPS WILL SAVE YOU MONEY SHOPPING
I see a must-have pair of shoes, perfect for fall; and I go crazy inside! “I want it”
The bag i’ve been dreaming of for a year now.. “I WANT IT”
When you finally get to checkout, you see the cashier with fabbbb earrings..the green eyed monster says: “I want it”!
I don’t know about you, but I use this guilty phrase when I have a craving to shop
“ I feel so bad, but I want this” , more often than not - my lovely friend Moon baby can ATTEST to that.
Despite my ever growing need for more clothes, shoes, bags..
I’ve learned a few things when it comes to saving money and how to build an ideal closet without making your wallet cry.
1. Create that budget
Don’t think you can skip this MAJOR first step. Without a budget you will fall back into your old ways, faster than you can say GUCCI…
It’s a good idea to create a monthly budget for clothes or set a budget before you head to the mall.
Decide what you can afford; be reasonable and smart about this decision. Your clothing budget should NOT be more than your food, transportation, or expense list.
2. Set a time limit
We all love to browse, window shop, wander and get lost in a lovely store - especially when the aesthetic is on point.
BUT, that’s a deadly move. You will grab everything shiny and slightly interesting just because..
’JUST BECAUSE’ IS NOT A REASON TO SPEND.EVER.
So, give yourself a time limit of 25 minutes (maybe) and then leave.
3. Shop at the end of season
I know what you’re thinking… I don’t need a tank top in September or those cute espadrilles sandles.
HOWEVER, the best time to shop is in advance. You’ll find items 50-90% off the regular price. The very same items you wish you had ALL season long.
Get it now for 10$, store it and move on.
C’MON…YOU KNOW I’M RIGHT. ;)
4. Go thrifting
Thrift stores hold the real treasures to fashion!
One of a kind pieces, vintage finds, never-seen before patterns and more! MUCH MUCH MORE…
I had a friend, who once found the most stunning vintage velvet Tommy Hilfiger blouse for 5$.
5. Don’t buy for one day occasions
Your wedding might be the only exception, for buying an expensive dress you’ll only wear once.
Why not RENT your special outfit for a one day event.
Renttherunway (click this for the link)
This website allows you to rent apparel for any event.
You can even rent items on a monthly basis and switch as often as needed.
6. Shop overseas
Buying clothes overseas in China specifically, can save you over 100$ every time.
Now, I know the quality is sometimes cheaper or low grade…BUT - I have had nothing but good luck when i RESEARCH BEFORE I BUY.
I suggest using;

On both websites, I do not buy anything without reviews. On Aliexpress, it MUST have reviews and a high number of previous orders.
You can find everything on Aliexpress and SheIN has clothing.
I RECOMMEND BOTH.
7. Use codes
Before you browse for a good online store to shop at; search for promotional codes. If there are no codes, rethink your buying or shop somewhere else.
You can use these websites:
I also added the Honey plugin to my browser. It searches the web and adds coupons every time you shop online.
8. Sales Only
A guarantee way to save money; is to only shop the sales rack.
I did this before my 4 month trip to Italy and saved TONS of money.
When I’m going out and I don’t need to buy anything new, I shop from the sale section. If I can’t find something I CAN NOT HAVE, I walk away.
8. Buy outside of your section
I LOVE to shop in the men’s & kids sections of most clothing stores.
If you can’t find a sale, deal, promotional code or low price item - look elsewhere.
Men sections are sometimes cheaper, but they always have a sales rack and unique finds.
The children’s section is guaranteed to have a SUPER CUTE item.
9. Bring a friend
Bring your best friend or someone sensible to be your back-bone.
It’s nice to have someone you trust; to tell you when to drop the shoes and walk away!
Do not bring a shopaholic or a friend who likes to see you spend.
